Local Employment Drive

November 2021

Lee Valley Regional Park Authority is committed to hiring local people on the construction of the new Lee Valley Ice Centre. We have already employed 13 people from the local area, and we are actively looking to recruit many more.

As part of this drive, our construction company Buckingham Group Contracting Ltd will be hosting a monthly employment workshop, on the first Tuesday of every month from 2pm to 4pm, which will include.

  • A construction site visit
  • Q&A sessions
  • Skills mapping
  • Mock interviews and feedback

Staff from Buckingham and their employment company Acorn will spend time with applicants to understand what they are looking for and introduce them to the relevant sub-contractors to help with their employment search.

To attend the course applicants will need to be ready to work and have an up-to-date CV. Ideally, they should already have a Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card or be working towards one (should they need help with this, please let us know, we may be able to help). This is a local initiative and is only open to residents of Waltham Forest, Hackney, Newham, or Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

They need to apply for a space through their work coach at their job centre, who will book them onto the workshop by emailing buckinghamgroup@acornpeople.com.

If you do not have a work coach and would like to apply, please send an email with your contact details to buckinghamgroup@acornpeople.com and one of our team will contact you to book a space at the next available workshop.

Over the construction period, members of the public can get their questions answered by emailing us at LVIC@communitycomms.co.uk or calling our 24/7 construction hotline 0800 093 1716.
